Yesterday’s announcement of “GPTs” by OpenAI creates exciting new possibilities for easily creating agents that work based on specialized knowledge (which could be real domain knowledge or some specific made up fictional stuff like sci-fi worlds) as well as having access to custom functions that can interface with other services.

The backdrop shown during the event shows quite some interesting example agents that were already developed ahead of this announcement. The presentation follows to show a couple of powerful implementations including Zapier, which through it’s extensive platform effectively unlocks interaction with all popular tools and services that are available.

Next, a demonstration is given how a GPT can be created from scratch. Note that it doesn’t involve any coding, it is fully wizard-based and also allows a simple file upload to provide the agent with custom domain knowledge.

The GPT can then be uploaded to a centralized store for use by others. Based on its usage, parts of revenue will be shared with the person that created this agent.

I believe this is one of those times where the new technology potential is so big that we haven’t even thought about all the possibilities yet. It is going to be very interesting seeing which agents are going to become popular, and how businesses will find ways to integrate these agents into their proposition.
